Learn at the Y
For over 25 years the YMCA Christchurch has provided programmes that offer a safe and positive learning environment for young people in education, training and employment related skills.
As a registered accredited provider we offer NZQA approved courses aimed specifically towards young school leavers up to 18 years of age who are unsure of what it is they want to do next, and for 18+ year olds who would like to develop their work-readiness skills.
We have great success working with young people to motivate and educate – helping them to identify and achieve their goals.
Our FREE COURSES aim to raise self-esteem, confidence, and motivation to develop life skills in each student so they can realise their potential and achieve.
The YMCA core values are built into the design and delivery of all our Education programmes.
Based at our city Y site is the Alternative Education programme for 13-16 year olds. Our Education Centre in Colombo Street offers tertiary programmes for young people aged 16-18 years, as well as providing an employment skills course for adults aged 18 years plus.
