Grapple23 aims to gather the country’s best young innovators to work on solving real world problems using digital tools.
Y Christchurch and the 4C Centre are hosting two onsite “camps” for Year 12 and Year 13 students from around the country. During each camp the participants have full access to the Y’s 4C technology makerspace – equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, robotic equipment, AR/VR as well as a range of other creative and digital makerspace tools.
Students will grapple with the problem of their choice, one selected from 5 options, and can compete solo or in a team of up to three – being scored across the 5 scoring areas (Creativity, Electronics, CAD, Coding, Culture). The judging criteria has been set in consultation with industry experts.
Coaching and mentoring is provided by 4C staff and industry experts, with judging occurring at the end of each week for prize money.
Camp 1 – 2-8 July 2023
Camp 2 – 9-15 July 2023
