The best way any local business can support the Y is be our customer.
Subsidise a low-decile school to attend a camp at either Y Wainui Park or Y Arthur’s Pass Outdoor Education Centre
The Y aims to ensure that all schools can access school camp experiences – however, for many schools the cost to attend or do the more adventurous activities can be prohibitive.
We provide subsidised and even ‘free’ camps for low-decile schools thanks to generous donations from individuals and businesses. On average the cost to the Y of delivering a safe, educational and FUN school camp is $180 per child (excluding transport).
If you or your company would like to sponsor a school camp we will ensure the funds are spent on reducing costs for those schools who are decile 3 or below. If you want to nominate a particular school in Canterbury for your support to go towards you can do that too.
