Papa Hou is Y Christchurch’s new multi-use venue located in the heart of the city on Hereford Street.


The Space

This flexible space is ideal for all kinds of performance, including dance, theatre, circus and music – as well as being highly suitable for conferences, functions, weddings, balls etc.

This expansive complex comprises of a large 405sqm black box space – featuring 180 movable and retractable seats, a sprung wooden floor, and full light/sound grid and rig. There is an option of having some of Christchurch’s finest street art on display around the walls, or the ability to fully cover up with black drapery.

Also available are three smaller studio spaces, as well as a licensed bar/lounge/foyer area.

Performance and Community Events

We can cater for a vast range of different community events and functions. We have hosted school and sports club prize givings, quiz nights, community theatre group performances, school music concerts, sporting charity fundraisers, weddings, cultural group performances and much more!

The Y Christchurch is home of a unique event location in the heart of Christchurch’s central city. We offer a diverse range of rooms and spaces that can host a variety of gatherings – whether it be an intimate get together for 10 people or a full scale event catering for up to 250!

Our board room seats up to 12 guests, is located on the ground floor, has external access to a courtyard and smart TV display options. The conference room is located on the first floor and can be set up in several flexible ways, and also doubles as a fully licensed guest lounge.
