The Y Fitness Centres are conveniently located in the central city and at Bishopdale Mall. Our members have access to both of our Fitness Centres, group exercise classes and discounted specialist adult term programmes.

Our Fitness Instructors are here for you, we will work with you individually to create your own fitness programme and set personalised health, fitness and wellbeing goals. All of our staff are committed to our members, we know your name, your injuries, your challenges, and are here to make you feel comfortable and confident as you embark on your fitness and wellbeing journey.

Yoga & Pilates Timetable


We offer three variations of yoga styles (Vinyasa, Yin, Yin/Yang, Hatha) and two pilates styles (classic and Barre). Each type of yoga delivers its own benefits. Classes run at both Bishopdale and the City – take a look at our timetable below.


 

 

 

Group Exercise Class Descriptions
Y-ZONE

Never get bored of the same old moves in a high-energy class focusing on your cardio fitness while also building stamina and strength with specific muscle conditioning phases. Having powerful music and an energetic instructor to carry you along will ensure you stay motivated and have fun.

HIIT

Combined elements of high intensity, functional training with low rest periods. Designed to push you to your edge and beyond. Designed for individuals who want that extra push in their workout combining a range of equipment and exercises. Sure to leave you pumped for the day.

Boxfit

Come and experience the drills and skills involved in a boxer’s workout. In this non-contact boxing fitness class you’ll utilize boxing gloves and focus pads in partner work to build physical strength, agility and endurance while also sharpening your mental focus and co-ordination.

Zumba

Take the “work” out of your workout and come and join the Zumba dance party! Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise.

Spin

Jump on a bike and join the ultimate indoor cycling class. Our instructor guides the group through their ride including hills, intervals and sprints designed to challenge your fitness and deliver a massive calorie burn.

Pump

This weights-based workout focuses on major muscle groups with the original, invigorating barbell workout. Squat, lift and curl to the beat of the music as you see your strength increase week to week.

Step

Perform sequences of moves to music using the step platform to increase your fitness, burn calories, increase muscle tone and improve your co-ordination – all while having a lot of fun!

Step Pump

Can’t decide between attending Step or Pump? Why not both! This class fuses two of our favourite class styles to deliver a time-effective strength and cardio workout.

Stretch

Ease out stiffness or relieve pain in the joints, lengthen tight muscles and improve your general wellbeing with a 30 minute class devoted entirely to stretch. Particularly helpful in prevention of and recovery from injuries.

Yoga

Nourish your mind, body and soul while strengthening your muscles, enhancing your flexibility and releasing tension. Our instructor will guide you through dynamic standing postures, balance work, deep stretches and restorative meditation. Suitable for all levels

Pilates

Engage your mind and utilize your breath to promote core strength, flexibility and postural strength using Classical Pilates Mat methods. Our instructor will guide you through a total body conditioning, often utilizing props to help you target particular muscles.

  • Group exercise classes in our purpose-built Exercise Studio or carpeted Mind and Body room – free for members.
  • Inductions and programming sessions for members available every 8 weeks
  • Personal Training packages
  • A dedicated air-conditioned Spin Studio
  • A separate Circuit Room equipped and set up for scheduled Circuit classes. The Circuit Room is available for individual use outside of scheduled class times.
  • Lockers are located in the changing rooms and are free for members to use.
  • Free on-site car parking
  • Reciprocal use of the Y Fitness Centre and group exercise classes in the city
  • Specialist adult recreation term programme – in addition to your membership at a discounted rate
